Medicated clients/pilgrims: horror stories

Updated: Nov 12, 2023

“Medicating Normal” is a must-see documentary https://medicatingnormal.com if you know of someone who is prescribed pills by doctor or psychiatrist for PTSD, anxiety, depression, sleeping problems, ADHD, etc. Many personal stories therein educate about the use of these drugs like Prozac, Lorazepam, Zoloft, Ritalin, benzos, etc. There is a hidden unspoken risk of addiction to the drugs, which are meant only for short term few weeks’ use, which can work very well for some people. Longterm use has grave consequences, including suicidal ideation for some.

Also, weaning off will be a struggle, as care must be taken not to dangerously quit cold-turkey because tapering off dosage MUST be done gradually over time. For those ready to wean off, here's an online resource that offers qualified tapering-off help: Free Range Psychiatry https://freerange.org/

If medicated clients come for therapy or direction, the curious question is: are we dealing with the symptomatic effect of the drugs, or the actual root problem of the individual?

Watch the film and decide.
