"Sacred Art" session from Traditions of the World series, 3 Oct 2020, exploring Saraswati, Tara and Mary. Gratitude to MR for sharing her story and her triptych artworks.
This lovely artwork was drawn by MR after exploring Mother Saraswati, which was interpreted as "harp" or "heart" or both.
MR shared how she received a song during Saraswati's segment and her body was moved in an impulse to dance, even as I, the facilitator, was grappling with puzzling technological hiccup.
So, when human fails, the divine provides backup! Or perhaps it is the divine working all along, which the human attributes to herself.
Days later, I followed up on MR in a one-on-one session. We unpacked the drawings a little bit more in a deepening inquiry. Below the three strings of the harp, lies a colourful 'Lost Harvest', which was something she cared about very deeply. I 'held' her by listening deeply as she told her poignant story, of her painful concerns about her community.
Her second artwork (on the right) has a Song clearly standing out in blue amidst the chaos of other voices or songs. This was what MR first perceived during the dance movement experiential from exploring Mother Tara.
Upon deepening one-on-one, MR received expansion on her Song. "If you know yourself, you will know God."
The colourful other songlines tell her that "every ritual leads to God."
As for exploration of Mother Mary, MR said in her initial sharing of her experience, after the imaginative sensorial dance movement experiential, "Mary was sad. She said, 'Grow the green shoots!'"
Upon deepening her inquiry one-on-one, she realised that her blue song could not be birthed in this third artwork. All the other colours and songs from her earlier pieces came through in this third piece, except her 'Jesus.'
She shared more narratives about her perception of her world and the role of institutions, and how everyone actually wanted to do their best.
It has been a most enriching experience trailing MR, from the group contemplative dance experiential to one-on-one expansion and deepening through her artworks, weeks after. Intuitive artworks are such a gold mine to one's inner landscape.
